The Syrian General Insurance Corporation

A Social, Service-Oriented, and Economic Institution:

The Syrian Insurance Corporation is a social, service-oriented, and economic institution that meets the essential needs of individuals and society in preventing and mitigating risks and their consequences when they occur. The core concept of insurance is based on the principle of shared responsibility among individuals or legal entities exposed to the same risk, both before and after the risk materializes.

The Syrian General Insurance Corporation began its operations in Syria in 1952 under the name of the Syrian Guarantee Company. It has undergone numerous stages of development and growth, enabling it to become one of the most important and leading institutions in this field, built on solid legal and technical foundations. Its current business volume exceeds the combined volume of the twelve private insurance companies operating in the Syrian market since 2005.

Legislative Decree No. 46 of 2007 granted the Corporation legal personality and financial and administrative independence, recognizing it as an economic institution. Its branches and offices are distributed throughout all Syrian governorates and in several regions and cities.

The company has approximately 850 employees, a capital of 2 billion Syrian pounds, and practices all types of insurance and reinsurance (life, property).
