Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce
The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce was established in 1975, headquartered in Damascus. Its objectives include safeguarding the interests of chambers of commerce and joint chambers of commerce and industry in the governorates, coordinating activities, fostering cooperation among them, representing them both domestically and internationally, serving and defending commercial and economic interests, and working to develop trade and the economy in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Federation Tasks and Services
Services:
The Federation provides certificates of origin to Syrian exporters and importers by authenticating them through the Syrian Chambers of Commerce and registering them on international websites. The Federation has established a website for international verification of Syrian export certificates, which helps facilitate the flow of Syrian goods.
The Federation authenticates commercial documents for import and export operations by verifying the data on certificates of origin and accompanying documents, including relevant laws, certificates, and other necessary documentation, to ensure the validity of these documents and the commercial seals they bear.
Through its offices in Damascus and the governorates of Aleppo, Homs, Hama, and Tartous, the Federation provides facilities for merchants to authenticate documents related to their work, ensuring speed and high reliability in the services provided. The Federation maintains all its certified documents in a sophisticated and comprehensive database for future reference.
The Federation provides merchants with embassy correspondence services, letters to whom it may concern, contract verification, and certified copies.
Responsibilities:
Representing chambers of commerce at national, foreign, and international conferences on all commercial and economic matters, and communicating with commercial attachés and embassies within and outside the Syrian Arab Republic in coordination with relevant authorities.
Promoting commercial and economic interests, coordinating chamber activities, and fostering cooperation among them, serving as the representative body for all commercial and economic activities.
Participating in local and international conferences and seminars, and undertaking activities that serve and promote trade and the economy, including organizing exhibitions and markets both domestically and internationally to showcase Syrian products, in coordination with relevant authorities and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Contributing to the optimal organization and management of commercial and economic activities within its scope of work. Contributing to the formation of joint business councils for men and women with Arab and foreign countries, and holding meetings that bring together Syrian businesspeople with their Arab and foreign counterparts to explore potential investment opportunities and strengthen trade and investment relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and other countries, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade.
Addressing all official bodies and participating, as needed, in the work of governmental and legislative committees, as well as committees that discuss Arab and international trade agreements, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade.
Contributing to the development of the legislative, administrative, and regulatory environment governing commercial activity, including import, export, investment, and other economic activities.
Submitting proposals that would facilitate foreign trade and simplify its procedures in cooperation with relevant authorities.
The Federation may invest its revenues in establishing investment projects and may invest a portion thereof in areas that do not conflict with its tasks and objectives.
Participating with relevant authorities in preparing educational plans and curricula for colleges, institutes, and specialized secondary schools to align with the requirements of all companies operating in the economic sector and to ensure that educational outcomes are linked to the labor market. Supervising arbitration procedures related to commercial and economic disputes, appointing arbitrators and experts upon request, and defining commercial customs, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Issuing periodicals and publications in print and electronically, and creating a website to serve those working in the economic sector in general.
Establishing a research department tasked with preparing databases and economic and statistical studies on markets, materials and their prices, investment projects, conferences, and exhibitions to support government decision-making, businesspeople, investors, and traders.
Creating a database to provide the latest programs related to economics and trade in cooperation with Arab and foreign chambers of commerce and linking it with chambers of commerce in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Providing interested foreign companies with up-to-date information on Syrian companies and their products, investment opportunities in the country, economic cooperation between Syria and foreign countries, and information on the latest developments in business and technology.
Providing chambers of commerce and interested companies with well-resourced services to enhance the economic activity of Syrian companies. These services range from dispute arbitration to providing information services and training courses that will enable them to respond effectively to the changes occurring in the Syrian business environment.
